Richard A. Gargiulo manages the firm’s Boston office. Mr.
Gargiulo began his legal career in the Office of the District Attorney
for Middlesex County in 1968. As a First Assistant District Attorney, he
was responsible for all investigations being conducted by over forty
Assistant District Attorneys. He was assigned by the Chief Justice of
the Superior Court of Massachusetts to conduct an investigation
involving the manipulation of various judicial proceedings, which
resulted in the impeachment trial of one sitting justice of the Superior
Court and the resignation of another. Mr. Gargiulo was also responsible
for the prosecution and conviction of the chairman of the Committee on
Counties of the Massachusetts legislature for criminal conduct.
Since entering private practice in 1973, Mr. Gargiulo’s areas of
practice include the trial and appeal of complex civil and criminal
litigation. He has represented a broad spectrum of clients, including
publicly held corporations and public employees, in matters involving
trade secrets, RICO, criminal and civil forfeiture, contract law, fraud,
Continuing Criminal Enterprise, civil tort liability, unfair trade
practices, sexual harassment, motor vehicle franchise law and conspiracy
law.
He has served as outside counsel to a major Japanese
automobile manufacturer and members of its senior management and advised
the company with regard to a multi-district litigation proceeding. He
also served as an advisor to the company’s board of directors and
president and was instrumental in conducting a national internal
investigation for purposes of gathering information to assist the
company’s board of directors.
